Friends, our move is complete. We are mostly unpacked.
And Charlie the Dog is exhausted.
But oh! We love our new place! It's everything we wanted. Henry has declared that he wants to live here for the rest of his life. I'm not going to hold him to that, but I appreciate the sentiment.
Right now Henry is home sick with a swollen eye and a sore throat, listening to a "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" audiobook on my computer. Typing while listening to his audiobook with him is more challenging than it sounds. Turns out I can't listen and think at the same time. I'd give him my headphones, but I can't find my headphones. I'm sure they're around here somewhere. And at some point I will get up to look for them.

This photo makes it look like Charlie is plugged in, just waiting for someone to turn the wall switch on and set him in motion ;^) Sooooo glad you moved, Alice, we were all worried about you!

Congrats on the move! I hope it turns out to be everything you've hoped.

Yay! Where did you move to? Still in Brooklyn, or did you make your way to another borough? Or--heaven forbid--Long Island! Good luck with the new place, can't wait to see photos!

Hooray for you and the family! So proud you were able to fix your situation! You ARE a warrior, lady! Now settle in, have a cup of tea and a biscotti...and get writing!

I can only imagine the relief and peace you're feeling after accomplishing the big move and getting away from the anxiety and craziness at your old building.
My favorite part of moving is unpacking at the new house. I will start putting things where they go, and am practically unable to stop until every last box is empty. Its so fun to feather my nest. I'd move over and over again if it wasn't for the parts I loathe, namely packing, loading and unloading. I only love the last bit.

Can't wait to see tons of pics of the new place!

Welcome home! I'm so glad you're safe and sound.
Excess sound, even.

I can't listen and type, either. It bothers me that I can't simultaneously blog and enjoy my favorite NPR programs.

I'm with commenter #1. The cord is cracking me up. Recharging.
Glad your time in the wilderness has come to an end. Welcome home! xo

So happy to read that you're finally home. May blessings abound, and may many happy memories be made.

Word to the wise - there's a LOT of strep going around the city. You might want to get Henry a strep test just to be sure . . .
Every happiness in your new home!

I love your new place, welcome home!! I am always torn between the art, color, and texture that I love, and the need for the calm, monotone space my mind needs.

Congratulations for the move! What a relief!! My own little Henry is at home and ill as well. Sore throat and red goopy eyes...poor little Henry's.

Congrats!!! So sorry Henry is sick!! My son LOVES the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books. He's eagerly awaiting the purchase of the newest. *note to self check to see if it's released I think it was supposed to be released about now*
Posted by: Steph | May 26, 2010 at 11:21 AM
Thank goodness. Out of the old, into the new. I feel as relieved as if I'd moved myself. Though of course vicarious moving is much, much less exhausting (for me).

Congratulations! And the walls aren't even beige! I hope the unpacking is relatively painless and your days are as bright and sunny as that yellow.

Enjoy! Neighbors suck. That's why I bought myself an island.
Posted by: Lucy | May 30, 2010 at 10:02 PM
Yay! Yellow! We have a bedroom that I like to call the Velveeta room, for obvious reasons.
I'm glad you got out of that hell hole. Best of luck in the new digs.
Lucy, are you serious? An island would be fabulous. Not that I'm in any need for extra privacy (I'm on 80 acres abutting 1000 acres of conservation land), but being surrounded by ocean might be even better than being surrounded by forest.

I'll bet Charlie sniffed every last inch of the place before collapsing on that floor! Congrats on the new place. And why did I never think to look for "Wimpy Kid" on audio book before?
Posted by: Wombat Central | June 02, 2010 at 08:35 AM
Congratulations on the completed move! I hope you never have to do it again.

please tell us the wall color! my son wants his room yellow for our new house and i have not seen a shade that i love until this one....
Posted by: sayfoo | June 03, 2010 at 05:55 PM
Sayfoo, the color is "Yellow Highlighter," by Benjamin Moore. I must say, I was a skeptic, but it's really nice in a kid's room.
Posted by: Alice Bradley | June 03, 2010 at 08:31 PM
yippee! thanks, A!
Posted by: sayfoo | June 04, 2010 at 11:37 AM
I had no idea you had an electric dog. Does he have a battery pack for walks? Because that cord doesn't look terribly long.
Posted by: barbara | June 05, 2010 at 12:24 AM
I always just want to give Charlie big hugs. He is the sweetness!
